New Delhi, India – Today, India celebrates National Sports Day on the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The theme for this year, “Sport to Promote Peaceful and Inclusive Societies,” is being marked by events across the country, encouraging citizens of all ages to engage in physical activity. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in partnership with the Fit India Mission, is championing a three-day campaign to promote outdoor games.
Hockey: Men’s Asia Cup Kicks Off in Bihar
In a fitting tribute on National Sports Day, the 12th Men’s Asia Hockey Cup begins today in Rajgir, Bihar. The tournament was inaugurated with a match between Malaysia and Bangladesh, where Malaysia secured a dominant 4-1 victory. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to all the participating teams.
